The population is necessory to utilize natural resources and to creat social and culture environment. The people are important to devlop the economy and society.
India's population as on march 2001 stood at 1.028 million (16.7 per cent of the total world's population)
But it has been increasing rapidly.
According to 2011 census the population of india was 1,210 million .
which is 17.5 per cent of world's population .
The 2011 census shows that uttar pradesh with a population of 199 million people is the most populous state of india.
Almost half of India's population lives in just five states ,which are uttar pradesh,maharashtra,bihar,bengal,andhra pradesh.
Census
A census is an ifficial environment of population done periodically .In india the first census was held in year 1872.The first complete census however was taken in year 1881. since then the censuses have been done regularly every thenth year.
Indian sensus gives us a detailed account of demographic,social and economic data . The last census was held in the year 2011.
Birth rate
It is the number of live births per thousand people in a year .it is major component for the growth of population,because in india birth rates have always been higher than the death rates.
Death rate
It is the number of deaths per thosand persons in a year. The main reason for the growth of india's population is the rapid decline in the death rate.
National population policy
In 1952 the government initiated family planning programme in order to promote responsible and planned parenthood.
The Natonal population policy ,2000 provides a broad framework for imparting free and compulsory education upto 14 year of age . It's other aims are reducing infant morality rate ,achieving .universal immonization of children against all preventable diseases,encouraging delayed ,marriage for girls.
